Happy Thanksgiving, Mia-style! =)

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving =)
For the past couples months we have had dish towels with cute little turkeys on them hanging in the kitchen. Mia really liked to look at the turkeys on the towels & so we taught her the turkey sound! Hehehe- the turkey sound is a very important 1 year old skill! ;) She doesn't "gobble" , but makes a gobble-like sound with her tongue. In this video she has her turkey stuffed animal (thanks Yia yia) & she is telling us what a turkey sounds like. Actually, Mia is telling us Happy Thanksgiving! ;) Enjoy! Also you can hear her say bye-bye at the end of the video. As usual, she likes to keep anticipation high with her delayed bye-byes!

A funny story (or two)- Mia has made Chris & I into her horsey. She likes sit to on top of us while we are laying down & jump up & down while clicking her tongue (like a horse galloping)! It is really funny, especially if you are being woken up with a baby sitting on your belly pretending that her sleeping parent is her horsey! Hahaha! Chris & I were cracking up the first night she did that! =)-
Also, lately Mia has been kissing & hugging EVERYTHING! She has hugged & kissed her grapes, bread stick, stuffed animals, Chris & I, lotion bottles,cups, flower vases, water bottles, my belly button, our feet, herself, our clothes & many other things...Mia is super sweet & generously affectionate to everyone & everything! ;)

Happy 13 months Mia-bear! ;)

Mia is 13 months & WALKING! She is say trying to say more words & learning more signs. We have so much fun watching Mia's personality develop & seeing her learn new things. She has added turkey to her animal sounds & up, down & pow-pow to her list of words.

Happy (Very Belated) Halloween!

Happy Belated Halloween! ;)
Mia was a pumpkin this year! Chris went hunting with my Dad & brother, Tony; so Mia & I went to El Paso to visit my Mom. We "helped" with a cake walk, jumped in a jump house & trick or treated! Here are some pics of our Halloween fun! =)

Hi! Mia is now 1 year old! We cannot believe it! Her birthday party was soooo fun & it was great seeing family & friends! Mia loved her puppy themed party & since we left the puppy balloons & banner up she pants excitedly every time she sees them. =)
Before I give you an update on Mia, I need to tell you about Chris's 30th surprise party! =)
Chris thought that he & Mia were having a party together on Saturday, but with LOTS of help from family & friends he got a SURPRISE party! It was so exciting & he was SHOCKED! I could not have done it without the help of family & friends- so THANK YOU ALL!
Mia is not walking yet, but she is getting braver every day! She loves to walk while holding our hands, and when I say walk I guess I mean she baby sprints! Hehehe- it's very cute! Mia has 3 (maybe 4) teeth coming in on the top, weighs a little less than 17 pounds & is 27 1/4 inches short, I mean long ;) Mia is a tiny baby, but I like my Mom & I say, "We are small, but we are mighty!" So you are mighty, baby! Hehehe =)-

Mia's new words are: bye-bye & up & she also attempts to say pumpkin, but it just comes out "pu-pu-pu" (old words: Dada, Mama & all done.)
Her new signs are: please & book.

She can also point to her nose, eyes & hair/head. =)

Mia also love to smell flowers (real & not real)- she scrunches her nose up & breathes in & out of her nose loudly- it is super adorable!

Oh & Mia really likes her nose hole! ;) She likes to put her finger in her nose, as well as pretzel sticks!

Mia made up a nickname for her friend Aria- Mia calls Aria "Ra-ra". It is so sweet & Mia randomly asks for "Ra-ra". =)

Fun family news- Mia met her cousin Asher (congrats John & Lia!) for the first time on Sunday & then we also found out that her next cousin is going to be a boy- congrats Joey & Jules!

Baby drummer-

Chris set up his drums in the basement to practice for his upcoming concert & Mia loves to watch him play & then take a turn playing too! I think she will be like her Daddy & be a drummer- she is a natural! ;)
At the end if you listen closely you can hear Mia's drumming pop a toot out of her! Hehehe! Great effort! =)-

"Ahhhh du" (All done) ;)

Mia has been signing & saying her version of "all done" for several months now, but I just recently got it on video. When it's time for Mia to get our of her car seat she gets really excited, starts frantically signing "all done" & then says "all done". She does this almost every time we get her out of her car seat, because she does NOT like being in her car seat & it is so wonderful to finally be free! =)-

Happy 11 months!

I can't believe that Mia is 11 months old! It doesn't seem so long ago that she was a newborn & her best trick was staying awake for more than 2 hours! =)-

Mia can now make a monkey sound, puppy sound & duck sound & just yesterday she made a cow sound! She loves animals (especially puppy dogs!) Yay! ;)


Mia give hugs & kisses now too & makes a little kissing noise when she gives smooches! Cute! Mia loves to kiss & hug her stuffed animals & sometimes us! Hehehe Mia does like for her friend Aria to kiss her & sometimes she returns the kiss!


Mia added "drink" to her signing vocabulary! yay! And she is starting to mimic us-that is adorable!

I noticed she was making a wide open mouth grin & I couldn't figure out why she was making that face until I saw a picture of me making that face to her!




Our cutie loves to clap & loves to be clapped for! Her clap is silent-too funny!
She also dances with one finger in the air & waves it around a bit. Chris & I taught her do dance that way-it's our family dance ;)

Mia likes to pull at her diaper tabs, but I have been able to distract her from undoing her entire diaper until yesterday! She was relaxing in her crib (that lasted about 2 minutes) in just a diaper & I heard rustling so I walked over to her & she was just laying there naked holding her diaper in the air! It was soooo funny! I started laughing & she just looked at me & continued waving her diaper in the air proudly. I think she was hoping I wouldn't notice & she could stay naked for a bit! ;)


Mia has mastered the art of crawling & gets around fast & easily, but she is not walking by herself yet, but she does love to "run" while we hold her hands & she also walks while holding onto things. I wonder if she will be walking by her 1st birthday. (Which is only ONE month away! We just can't believe it!)

ABCs

While I sing the ABCs to Mia I show her the sign for each letter. The other day she was playing with a toy that sings the ABCs & when the song came on she started moving her fingers as if she was signing too! It was so cute & amazing to see her do it on her own & recognize the song. In the video Mia only "signed" a tiny bit (watch her hand that is in the air). Sometimes she gets camera shy & will stop doing whatever I'm trying to record-silly baby!

Mia the Monkey =)

A couple days ago Mia started making the "monkey" sound! We got it on video last night, sorry the video looks so dark it really wasn't that dark! Mia was looking at a picture of a monkey in a book (which is in the basket she is holding on to). Don't worry the basket doesn't tip over on her, but it did surprise her! Maybe Mia should be a monkey for Halloween-hehehe.

Hallelujah!

All of the sudden Mia started to raise both of her arms in the air, so we say "Hallelujah" every time she does it & we raise our arms in the air too! Here is the video of the 1st couple of times we went back & forth =)

Happy 10 months!

Yesterday Mia turned 10 months! We can't believe how fast time has gone, how much Mia has grown & how fast she is developing!

Mia is a waving & pointing machine ;) She points at everything & uses pointing to "tell" us where she wants to go or what she wants to see! Mia has also started waving at strangers & objects! Very cute!

Mia started clapping over the weekend & while she was watching her 1st Olympics she would clap for the competitors! Hehehe!
She also started playing peek-a-boo with us! The first time Mia did this was with my Mom. Mia turned her head & then whipped it back around with a huge grin on her face.
she held up a blanket in front of her face & would lower it after we say "Where is the baby?" "Where did Mia go?" She grins the whole time!

Mia has been getting brave when she stands- she lets go & stands on her own for a couple of seconds...I guess she is practicing to walk! Yikes!
Oh, and today Mia said Mama a couple of times! Yay! I have been waiting forever for her to say that! =) Melts my heart!!

Mia finds her shadow & crawling.

Mia loves to look at shadows & this time she found her own shadow! Very cute! She also shows us how adorable she looks while crawling. It's so amazing to watch Mia discover things for the first time =) We love our precious Babyface! =)

Pant like a puppy & quack like a duck!

You have to listen closely in this video...Mia pants like a puppy dog & then quacks like a duck! Hehehe!
Mia loves puppy dogs & gets so excited when she sees them. When Mia sees pictures of ducks or puppies she makes their sounds, but the best is when she sees a puppy in real life...anyone have a spare puppy we could have (preferably a golden retriever)?

Recently Aria (Mia's friend) petted Mia's head like she was a puppy dog-it was so adorable & Mia does make a cute puppy ;) I can see how Aria thought Mia might be her puppy because sometimes when Aria walks Mia crawls at her side!

New Smile?

Today I smiled at Mia & she smiled at me, but it was a different smile!
She made this huge open mouth grin & it was sooooo cute! I got the camera & asked her to smile again & she did several times. Is this her new smile? Hehehe ;)

Who needs toys when you have a cardboard box?

The other day Mia discovered a new & exciting toy- a cardboard box! It is in Chris' office & every time we visit him she has to play with her new discovery! If I knew how much fun she would have with boxes I would have just bought her a bunch of boxes all different sizes instead of her fun, colorful toys! ;) Normally she just climbs all over the box, but in this video she started "walking" with the box-who needs toys with wheels when she has a box!
We have lots of boxes in our garage, maybe I will build us a fort & see how much fun boxes can really be! =)-

Dance, dance, dance!

Mia started "dancing" a couple of weeks ago & I caught it on tape =) I'm starting to write like I talk to her- jump, jump, jump or dance, dance, dance-ha! I think it is a baby thing, I hope we are not the only ones who talk in repetition, repetition, repetition! ;)

Jump, jump, jump!

Jump, jump, jump! This is Mia in her Jump-a-Roo a couple days ago. Before she was too short for her feet to reach the floor, but Mia has grown & is now able to jump! It was really cute & she was excited to finally jump in her Jump-a-Roo! =)
Oh, and sorry the video is on its side, I don't know how to turn it!

1st Zoo Trip!

Over July 4th, Mia went to her 1st zoo. It was the El Paso zoo & just so she wouldn't get overwhelmed by all the wild animals the zoo animals picked that day to just lie around or hide-HA! She really liked the elephants & the seals! =)
Good thing the El Paso zoo is so small because it was really hot & we didn't stay too long, but we were able to walk the whole zoo!
